L’importance du travail de terrain ethnographique de longue durée et de l’observation participante, comme démarche et forme de relation dans le processus réflexif de construction de l’objet, est le point de départ du questionnement critique de la revue. Si l’anthropologie des enfants et de l’enfance, promue par la revue, peut légitimement constituer un champ de recherche, elle s’inscrit nécessairement dans l’anthropologie générale (en particulier de la parenté, du religieux, de l’économique et du politique).
La revue ambitionne le rapprochement et le dialogue mutuel entre les différentes traditions académiques anthropologiques ancrées dans le travail ethnographique mené sur, avec et pour des catégories et des groupes, des communautés et des sociétés du monde entier.
