Retrouver la sérénité dans le cadre d’une phase transitoire
Communiqué du Conseil des rectrices et recteurs du 18 avril 2024 à propos du décret « Paysage » amendé
As a public university open to the world and is anchored in the scientific, cultural and economic development of its region, the University of Liège relies on its three pillars: teaching, research and civic engagement.
ULiège trains responsible citizens who are provided with cutting-edge knowledge and critical thinking, are able to share knowledge and can push forward an increasingly complex world.
ULiège develops and promotes excellence in research, multidisciplinary and direct engagement with its instruction.
Global exposure is a top priority at the University of Liège. The institution offers a wide range of international mobility opportunities to students, researchers and staff, enabling them to enhance their cross-disciplinary skills and language knowledge.
ULiège: an experience of daily living. Located in 3 cities and 4 campuses, the university is a key player in terms of the environment and mobility.
Rector Anne-Sophie Nyssen supports the demand for the release of Olivier Vandecasteele, an aid worker arbitrarily imprisoned in Iran.
"Ladies and Gentlemen,
The media inform you of the dramatic and intolerable situation in which our compatriot Olivier Vandecasteele, an aid worker arbitrarily imprisoned in Iran, has found himself. His sentence has just been increased to 40 years imprisonment and 74 lashes...
Amnesty International supports the release of Olivier Vandecasteele, the organisation has placed him on the list of people in danger. This is why I invite you, as we did a few years ago for Hamid Babaei, to sign the Amnesty International petition without delay:
Petitions "Free Olivier Vandecasteele immediately"
Olivier Vandecasteele has been a victim of torture, he has been in total isolation since the beginning of his detention in February 2022, and has numerous health problems. He is in immense physical and psychological distress. He urgently needs our support.
I also invite you to put up the poster attached to this message.
I thank you for your support, which joins that expressed by the universities of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
Yours sincerely
Anne-Sophie Nyssen
Rector"
