Mission to Japan

Follow-up and agenda

imgActu

ULiège has long maintained contacts with partners and universities in Japan, in almost all its Faculties. The December 2022 mission was an opportunity to highlight all the existing contacts with Japanese partners, whether they are universities, research centers or companies.

Moreover, the delegation had the pleasure to meet Belgian students studying in Japan and to exchange with them on their exchange experience with Japan.

Many follow-ups

During the mission, the Liège delegation met with partner institutions in the cities of Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe. This was an opportunity to sketch out new avenues of collaboration with the University of Kobe, Osaka, Tokyo, Ritsumeikan University and Toyota R&D Labs.

New contacts were also initiated with potential partners, notably in the fields of agronomy, engineering, management and law.

Game Jam

During the mission, a Game Jam "Equilibre" gathering 121 Belgians and 63 Japanese was organized allowing Belgian-Japanese teams to imagine a video game that goes beyond the borders and approaches the fight against the effects of climate change in a playful way. Among them, 17 ULiège students from different faculties.

Four students from our institution particularly distinguished themselves by winning a prize with their teammates during the Game.

A student from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, from the "Ecooks" team, won the Grand Prize of the Mission and will be offered a trip to Japan, with the other members of the Belgian team. The Japanese team will be offered a trip to Japan as well.
