On Thursday December 7th 2023, the 1st edition of ULiège's Festival of Cultures will take place. An opportunity to share your culture and the specificities it represents with the ULiège community!

nspired by "Festival of Cultures" organized at the University of Oulu in Finland (partner UNIC), ULiège is organizing the first edition of its Festival of Cultures, to be held on Thursday December 7th 2023 at the Amphithéâtres de l'Europe B4 (Sart Tilman campus).
The aim of this event is to highlight the diversity present within our institution. It is a unique opportunity to discover and experience dozens of cultures, and to travel the world while staying in Liège!
The entire community (students, researchers, staff, etc.) is invited to take part in this event. Come and share your culture and learn more about others!
Represent your culture
Which cultures can I represent?
This event does not focus on a particular country and its politics, but rather on the culture of each country. It is therefore open to everyone, regardless of origin, and has no political affiliation.
Your culture is not necessarily linked to your biological roots, your origins or what is written on your passport. It's mainly about where and how you grew up, and what you identify with today. It's even possible to identify with or be close to several cultures at the same time.
For example: you were born in country A, your parents come from country B, you moved to country C and are studying in country D, while your parents still live in country C. You may identify with several cultures, or you may have been influenced by one in particular.
Even within Belgium there are different cultures. So a Belgian can also represent his own culture!
Can anyone run a booth?
The whole ULiège community (students, researchers, staff, etc.) can represent their culture at this event.
Whether you are at ULiège for several months or a year or more, don't hesitate to come and represent your culture!
Should I register as solo or a group?
Alone or in a group, you are free to choose the most authentic or relevant way to show your culture.
If several people/groups want to represent the same culture, we'll put you in touch.
What can I offer on my stand?
Your stand can include performances, cultural presentations, culinary tastings, a photo exhibition and much more. Don't be afraid to get creative!
For example: performances (music, dance classes, martial arts demonstrations, drawing, singing), culinary tastings, presentations of the country, traditional clothes, photo exhibition, language classes, workshops, etc.
Will equipment be available?
Equipment available at the event:
- Notice boards
- Tables and chairs
- Possibility of playing music or using a microphone

NB: Your expenses can also be reimbursed up to a predefined ceiling.
