The swearing-in ceremony for new members of the academic staffand the ceremony to honor new F.R.S.-FNRS permanent representatives and emeritus, honorary and retired members of the teaching staff was held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Salle académique of the Université de Liège.
T
he First Vice-Rector Pascal Poncin welcomed the new members of the Academic Corps (teaching staff and permanent representatives of the F.R.S.-FNRS) as well as those teachers who have retired.
"You have acquired experience that is like a lantern on your back, illuminating the road you have travelled. But it also helps you pave the way for the future. This path is yours, with its particularities, and it will have inspired many vocations in students and young researchers. You have thus inscribed your name in their memory and in their careers
A ceremony which marks the essential continuity between those who leave and those who arrive, and which underlines the University of Liège's mission of transmission.
"At this precise moment, imagine that 20, 30 years separate you from your elders. Imagine all you could achieve in those years. All the experience you'll be able to acquire and all the passion you'll be able to communicate, too, to the younger generation, thus ensuring continuity in the cycle of knowledge."
