On this 20th of November, the Board of Directors of the University of Liège appointed Mr. Julien Nicaise as Administrator of the University of Liège.
Julien Nicaise will complete the current term of office as Administrator, which expires on 30 September 2026.
Julien Nicaise holds a degree in sociology (2001) from ULiège, as well as several diplomas in public management, budgetary, accounting, and financial processes in the public sector, and public policy evaluation (Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, ICHEC, UCLouvain, ULB, ULiège). He also holds the Director and Board Effectiveness certificates from the GUBERNA Institute of Directors.
Since 2020, Julien Nicaise has served as General Administrator of Wallonie-Bruxelles Enseignement (WBE).
On January 15 and 16, 2026, ULiège hosted the "2026 EUA-CDE Thematic Workshop – Doctoral education for the future of European R&I," a meeting organized by the Council for Doctoral Education of the European University Association.
On January 15, 2026, Belgium officially submitted Liège's bid to host the headquarters of the future European Union Customs Authority (EUCA).
Thomas Ostermeier, artistic director of the Schaubühne in Berlin, was awarded Doctor honoris causa by the ULiège on December 11, 2025.
