From September 15, 2025, TEC line 2 becomes B2, the first BUSWAY line in Liège. It links Guillemins station directly to Sart-Tilman, via Fragnée, Angleur, the CHU and the Botanique.

B2 line advantages

Directly connected to the streetcar, train and many other TEC lines, B2 buses can be likened to streetcars on wheels and are distinguished by :

  • A direct route, mostly exclusive right-of-way, with priority at traffic lights (stops remain identical for line 2 > B2)
  • A commercial speed of 20 km/h, close to that of a streetcar.
  • High frequency: every 5 to 10 minutes during rush hour.
  • Wide opening hours: from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m., including weekends.
  • Stops designed as streetcar stations: real-time passenger information, ticket purchase terminals.
  • 100% electric buses, including 14 new 18-meter vehicles, spacious and modern until the arrival of the 24-meter busway, scheduled for 2026
  • All-door boarding to reduce dwell time.
  • No need to buy tickets on board: they must be purchased before boarding and validated each time.

The introduction of the B2 line is another important step in the restructuring of the public transport network, led by the TEC and studied in consultation with the University's Property Resources Administration for the lines serving the Sart Tilman.

What's next: line B3

The capacity of the former bus line 48 is now divided between line B2 and line 3. Eventually, line 3 will also become a BUSWAY line (B3).

This new line, which will go into service in 2025 as a connect line, already links the Place République Française to the Sart Tilman, via the 20-Août, Longdoz and Vennes districts, and offers a direct connection from the right bank to the Sart Tilman.

It will be deployed in its BUSWAY configuration in 2030, offering a second direct, high-performance link to the campus.

Which line should I choose to get to Sart Tilman?

Depending on your point of departure, you have 3 options for getting from the city to Sart Tilman.

  • Line B2 runs between Guillemins and Sart Tilman, passing through Fragnée and Angleur.
  • Line 3 connects the Opéra - 20 août / Sart Tilman sites, passing through the Outremeuse, Longdoz and Vennes districts.
  • Streetcar line + line 8 allow you to cross the city from north to south (Bressoux, Droixhe, Coronmeuse, St Léonard, Avroy, Blonden, Sclessin) with the streetcar to the "Standard" bus/tram interchange, before taking the bus to Sart Tilman.
