As a public university open to the world and is anchored in the scientific, cultural and economic development of its region, the University of Liège relies on its three pillars: teaching, research and community service.
ULiège trains responsible citizens who are provided with cutting-edge knowledge and critical thinking, are able to share knowledge and can push forward an increasingly complex world.
ULiège develops and promotes excellence in research, multidisciplinary and direct engagement with its instruction.
Global exposure is a top priority at the University of Liège. The institution offers a wide range of international mobility opportunities to students, researchers and staff, enabling them to enhance their cross-disciplinary skills and language knowledge.
ULiège: an experience of daily living. Located in 3 cities and 4 campuses, the university is a key player in terms of the environment and mobility.
In less than a month, Henri (a master's student in Applied Sciences) and Théo (a second-year student at HEC) will be traveling the roads of Morocco in their Renault 4L "L'Horizon," a vehicle they have completely refurbished for a good cause. They are participating in the 4L Trophy , a charity rally raid in Morocco that aims to raise funds and collect food for the "Enfants du désert" association. In their efforts to participate in the rally, Henri and Théo received support from the ULiège sponsorship service, which is designed to support student projects with a humanitarian focus.
On February 16, Henri Delmotte and Théo Cornet will set off from Biarritz to Morocco in their 4L "L'Horizon," customized for the occasion and loaded with food and school supplies to enable local children to attend school. The journey will include stops in the Moroccan desert and will end on March1 in Marrakesh.
It was on YouTube that they first heard about the 4L Trophy , the world's largest charity rally raid, which brings together more than 2,000 young people from over 10 different countries.
Henri and Théo met in the Guides in the Braives region and this is not their first collaboration. What motivated them to team up for the rally? Their long-standing friendship, their mutual desire to embark on a humanitarian project, and their complementary talents. Henri, who graduated with an engineering degree this year, had the opportunity to be a student entrepreneur during his studies and is therefore accustomed to managing projects.
His studies also gave him a grounding in mechanics, particularly mechatronics. This discipline combines mechanics and computer science and enabled the two friends to connect their 4L with sensors that provide real-time information on temperature, pressure, etc.
As for Théo, his classes at HEC gave him a valuable foundation in accounting, and with the help of his dad, who is used to renovating vintage cars, they renovated the vehicle from top to bottom to prepare it for the desert roads.
What do they like most about the project? Definitely the solidarity aspect. The two friends don't see the rally as a competition, but rather as a way to get involved in a humanitarian mission by supporting the education of young people in Morocco. They also plan to help other participants during the rally in case of difficulties or technical problems.
The two friends plan to make a film about their experience and distribute it. They would also like to continue their commitment to Moroccan children, in particular by becoming ambassadors for the 4L Trophy .

As part of their search for sponsors, Henri and Théo contacted ULiège, which offers support to students participating in sporting, academic, cultural, humanitarian, or civic-educational events. In exchange for financial support, beneficiaries commit to promoting ULiège and sharing their project with the institution.
