ULiège has published the 5e edition of its annual "Sustainability & Transition" report, a document that reflects the institution's growing commitment to a fair, inclusive, and transformative social and environmental transition. This new report highlights not only the remarkable dynamism of the university community, but also the significant progress made during the 2024-2025 academic year.

With transition at the heart of its mission, the University aims to be a place for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collective experimentation in the service of sustainable transition. In a context marked by multiple uncertainties, it affirms its determination to support the necessary transformations while ensuring that they benefit everyone.

The "Sustainability & Transition" report is the central tool for monitoring the implementation of the Transition Roadmap adopted by the Board of Directors in February 2025, which aims to organize the University's sustainable strategy. In line with this strategic document, the report is structured around five areas: research; teaching; community services; sustainable campuses; and transition governance. For each area, it presents the achievements of the 2024-2025 academic year and the outlook for the coming years.

Structural and innovative initiatives

The document highlights structural initiatives at the institutional level, such as the launch of the online course "Sustainability & Transition", , the creation of the Transition Laboratory, , a training course for scientific staff, the appointment of ULiège experts to sit on the coordination and monitoring committee for the FWB's ecological transition policy, the evolution of Eclosio into a new inter-university NGO Ucoopia, the adoption of roadmapsTransition, Gender & Equality and Responsible Digital , as well as the Ethical Charter, which provides a framework for institutional transformation.

It also mentions specific projects aimed at reducing the University's environmental footprint, such as the adoption of a sustainable campus development policy, the internalization of canteens and the travel policy, and at strengthening inclusiveness with, for example, measures to combat harassment, welcome programs and the action plan for people with disabilities.

The report also highlights the decisive involvement of faculties and administrative services, scientific stations, transmission belts such as the Green Office, and many members of the university community who are driving innovative initiatives in teaching, research, and the transformation of practices.

Beyond the diversity of the actions carried out, this document reflects a sustained institutional mobilization in the face of ecological and social challenges, and confirms ULiège's structural and cross-cutting commitment to a transition that is both supportive and respectful of its environment.
