After an external evaluation, the European Commission renewed ULiège's "HR Excellence in Research" label for a 3 years period. The University of Liège project is considered to be ambitious, efficient and of high quality. Particular attention is paid to gender issues and open, transparent and merit-based recruitment procedures (OTM-R).
S
ince 2010, the University of Liège has been developing a strategic policy for the management of human resources in research (HRS4R) integrated into the institutional strategic plan. ULiège has successfully implemented actions that enables her to make progress in improving the researchers’ working conditions. Significant results were achieved in the areas of evaluation and recruitment of researchers, recognition and clarification of international careers, professional training and supervision of doctoral students, restructuring into research units, and team support by specialised departments.
The originality of the process? On one hand, researchers are actively involved in defining actions and setting institutional priorities and, on the other hand, the process fits in perfectly with the dynamic development of the European Research Area according to the principles described in the European Charter and Code for the Recruitment of Researchers and is officially recognised as such by the European Commission.
The impact for researchers is marked at professional and personal level, the impact for the institution is also reflected in the recognition as an attentive partner to the working environment of researchers, which can be used directly in European research projects.
Indeed, since the beginning of the H2020 research programme, the European Commission requires from the subsidies applicants to take all necessary measures to implement the principles of the Charter, particularly regarding the recruitment process, working conditions and career development of researchers. The "HR Excellence in Research" label fulfils this obligation at institutional level and makes proposals and partnerships more competitive.
The process and results with the action plan of the University of Liège for the next 3 years will be presented in a totally transparent manner on the institution's website.
