Following the call made in March 2023 to support students and researchers fleeing conflict or whose country is threatening their lives, 20 members of the ULiège community have already benefited from various forms of assistance.

Initially, it was decided to intervene for students and researchers already present at the University of Liège, to help them continue their studies or research projects.

The following assistance and support measures have been proposed, according to the needs expressed.

  • Contribution towards the cost of school fees.
  • Help with applying for admission to bachelor's, master's or doctoral programs.
  • Individual or group psychological counselling.
  • Organization of discussion groups to raise awareness among academic and scientific supervisors and the immediate working environment of the painful situations experienced by students and researchers in exile.
  • Financial assistance

These assistance and support measures are part of the ULiège, Hospitable University project.

New support applications can be submitted to: hospitableuniversity@uliege.be.

Given the particular context of Ukraine and Iran, the University of Liège particularly encourages students and researchers from these countries to come forward. Anyone who has fled conflict or whose country threatens their life can apply for support. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
