The University of Liège is honoured to welcome Professor Nicolas Rouhier from the University of Lorraine as the holder of the 2024-2025 International Francqui Chair. His inaugural lecture, entitled "Multidisciplinary approaches to study thiol and metal-dependent processes in photosynthetic organisms", will take place on Tuesday, 4 February 2025, at 4:30 PM at the Château de Colonster. This event will mark the beginning of a series of exchanges and lectures that will enrich both Belgian and international scientific research.
A professor at the University of Lorraine, Nicolas Rouhier is renowned for his significant contributions to plant biochemistry, particularly in the field of redox biology.
His work investigates complex cellular mechanisms through an interdisciplinary approach that combines biochemistry, structural biology, and physiology. His studies on the biogenesis of iron-sulphur clusters offer promising perspectives for biotechnology. He excels in analyzing redox proteins, such as glutaredoxins and thioredoxins, to unravel signalling and detoxification mechanisms.
With a specific focus on early career researchers, participants will have the chance to share and discuss experiences, present their work, and build networks across disciplines and regions.
