On Sunday, April 11, 2027, lace up your running shoes for the 18th edition of the Liège Métropole 15K! It’s a great opportunity to take on a athletic challenge, push your limits, and enjoy a fun time with the ULiège “ ” team !

Once again this year, ULiège is a partner of this event organized by Zatopek. With six different courses—ranging from an 8-km walk to a 45-km trail run—there’s a challenge for everyone, tailored to their abilities and preferences. The race takes place in a magnificent setting that showcases the most beautiful features of the Liège metropolitan area.

Courses 

• 7 km Jog (€11): the ideal distance for beginner or intermediate runners, or even for experienced runners looking to improve their time.
• 15 km Run (€15): The signature distance of the April event, the 15 km is perfect for runners accustomed to running 10 km who are looking to push themselves on a special occasion.
• Trail Run: 26 km (€25) or 45 km (€36): these are the distances for our “warriors”—the ones you see training tirelessly on campus and who love to work up a sweat in any weather. Both courses take place in the beautiful, wooded Ourthe Valley. 
• 8 km Walk (€9): an urban sightseeing walk to explore the treasures of downtown Liège. 
• 16 km walk (€21): a brand-new route showcasing ULiège, blending nature and heritage, featuring notably Colonster Castle, Blanc Gravier, the University Hospital (CHU), and the Sart-Tilman Open-Air Museum, before heading back down toward the city center.

The 3-km run has not been held since 2025. Did you used to run this distance? Feel free to take on the 7-km challenge or opt for the 8-km walk.

But there’s also a competition within the competition! The inter-faculty challenge is a friendly competition between faculties where every participant counts toward helping their faculty shine in the rankings. The score is calculated as a proportion of each faculty’s total population: students (bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral), professors, and staff members. 

Last year, the Faculty of Medicine dethroned the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FSA)—the challenge’s longtime winner—for the first time. It took the lead with an 11.88% participation rate, edging out the FSA by less than one point.
