On August 29, the University of Liège participated in the Pride Parade organized by the nonprofit Liège Pride, with a float led by the ULiège community. It was a colorful procession to celebrate diversity and combat LGBTQIA+phobia.

About 1,200 people took part in the Pride parade held in downtown Liège on Saturday afternoon.  The University of Liège chose to show its support by participating in the parade with a float decorated and staffed by volunteers from the ULiège community.
After a minute of silence in tribute to the victims of LGBTphobia around the world, the parade set off from the Finance Tower. Alongside Rector Anne-Sophie Nyssen, Frédéric Schoenaers, Vice Rector for Teaching and Student Life, and Florence Caeymaex, Advisor on Ethics and Equality Policies, the ULiège delegation marched through the streets of the “Cité Ardente” to Outremeuse.
Many staff members and students were also present to show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community and the values of equality and inclusion.

The University of Liège’s strong presence at thissecond edition of the Liège Pride Parade is part of its ongoing commitment to tangibly strengthening equality policies and supporting LGBTQIA+ rights.

It was a joyful, colorful, and musical parade, hosted by DJ MayDay, a graduate of HEC Liège and the Faculty of Applied Sciences.
