Following the decree of 21.11.2013 concerning the rectoral elections at the University of Liège and the University of Mons, the entire university community (members of the academic, scientific and administrative staff, and students, i.e. approximately 30,000 voters) is invited to vote on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 April 2022 for the rectoral election. The next rector will take office on 1 October for a four-year term.
The vote is based on the weighted universal suffrage, with the votes of the academic staff counting for 65%, the scientific staff for 10%, the administrative staff for 10% and the students for 15%.
Voting is organised on paper and in person.
To be elected, the candidate must obtain more than 50% of the weighted votes cast. A validly cast vote is a vote in favour of a candidate or "to no one" (blank or invalid votes are not counted). If no candidate reaches this majority in the first round, a second round will be held on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 May.
The position of Rector is open to any full professor at the University of Liège who enjoys civil and political rights.
The Electoral Commission, meeting on 16 March, declared the two candidatures received to be regular ((subject to possible appeals), listed here according to the draw established by the Electoral Commission:
