Meeting of the UniGR Council at the University of Liège
The seven partners of the Université de la Grande Région met at the Château de Colonster (ULiege campus) to take stock of current collaborations and outline the future of the consortium.
As a public university open to the world and is anchored in the scientific, cultural and economic development of its region, the University of Liège relies on its three pillars: teaching, research and civic engagement.
ULiège trains responsible citizens who are provided with cutting-edge knowledge and critical thinking, are able to share knowledge and can push forward an increasingly complex world.
ULiège develops and promotes excellence in research, multidisciplinary and direct engagement with its instruction.
Global exposure is a top priority at the University of Liège. The institution offers a wide range of international mobility opportunities to students, researchers and staff, enabling them to enhance their cross-disciplinary skills and language knowledge.
ULiège: an experience of daily living. Located in 3 cities and 4 campuses, the university is a key player in terms of the environment and mobility.
The rain did not get the better of Team ULiège, still present in force and ready to set the mood for this 2023 edition of the 15 km of Liège Metropole. No less than 801 students, staff members and alumni gathered on Sunday, April 16 at the Parc de la Boverie to take up one of the sporting challenges of this emblematic annual event in the Cité ardente.
P
or the fourth consecutive year, the University of Liege was the most represented educational institution. A mobilization of 801 runners, for a total of 10,230 km covered together!
In a good-natured atmosphere and encouraged by the Cheerleaders team, the ULiège team, of all generations (from 17 to ...78 years old!) was the perfect illustration of "Mens sana in corpore sano" .
Roger le Toré, the ULiège mascot and star of the pack (without having run!) took selfies after the finish line, just a few steps away from the tent of our Kinesitherapy students, which was full and in front of which a nice line quickly formed.
On the 7 km, Benjamin Rondal, already second last year and graduate since a few months (Kinesitherapy - Faculty of Medicine), confirmed his performance by taking again the silver medal with an average of 18 km/h. With an even fuller agenda (he has opened his own practice in Spa and works at the University Hospital of Liege (Physical Medicine Department). In the face of ever-increasing competition, this is a magnificent performance.
Another record: that of Julien Claessen ! On the 21 km trail and in rolling, but very slippery conditions, he won the race (average of 14.8 km/h). Assistant and doctoral student for the Faculty of Medicine (Department of Pharmacy), Julien had registered at the last minute after the cancellation of another race and was running a trail for the very first time. A promising success!
In the women's race, ULiege was present in the top 20 of the different courses but did not manage to get a podium. The experienced Irene Tosi (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, winner 2019 and 2022 on the 15 km) was making her comeback on the 7 km after a long injury (7th).
