Pierre-Yves Jeholet, Vice-President of the Walloon Government and Minister of the Economy, Research and Innovation was visiting the CIRM, the ULiège Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Medicines. Albert Corhay - Rector of ULiège and Marianne Fillet - Director of the Centre - presented the research activities carried out in the centre's laboratories and their socio-economic impact.

inister Pierre-Yves Jeholet, received by Albert Corhay, Rector of the university, was in Liège on Monday 2 July 2018 to visit the many facilities of the CIRM, the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Medicines. The CIRM is a multidisciplinary research centre which brings together 12 laboratories from different faculties of the University of Liège (Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Gembloux agro-biotech) and its University Hospital Centre (CHU).
The fundamental, applied and clinical research conducted at CIRM covers all aspects of drug development, from its design, formulation, in vitro and in vivo evaluations to clinical biology in an accredited quality environment at all stages. Marianne Fillet, Director of CIRM, presented the various research activities of the centre and Brigitte Evrard, Vice-President of the Department of Pharmacy, their impact at the socio-economic level on the region of Liège and more broadly at the level of Wallonia.
Minister Jeholet was then discovered some of the centre's key technological infrastructures, such as the mass spectrometry technology platform (MaS-Santé) and the pharmaceutical technology laboratory.
At the end of the visit, the Minister met with CIRM researchers to discuss current research projects, projects that place CIRM as an key player in the field of health research. Research conducted at CIRM provides new health care options that benefit both regional and international companies.

As of 1 January 2018, the CIRM had 216 members, including 23 leaders (PI) and 67 PhD students, spread over 12 different laboratories at the University of Liège. Research activities range from the discovery of new drug targets and the design or identification of lead compounds to their formulation and testing using all modern analytical tools for investigation and monitoring. All CIRM laboratories are encouraged to contribute to and participate in CIRM interdisciplinary research projects (discovery of new therapeutic targets, biopharmaceuticals, nanomedicines, personalized medicine).
