Action by students in solidarity with Palestine. A message from Rector Anne-Sophie Nyssen
A "Sit-in liège students in solidarity for Palestine" is currently taking place at the University of Liège, on the Place du 20 août campus.
As a public university open to the world and is anchored in the scientific, cultural and economic development of its region, the University of Liège relies on its three pillars: teaching, research and civic engagement.
ULiège trains responsible citizens who are provided with cutting-edge knowledge and critical thinking, are able to share knowledge and can push forward an increasingly complex world.
ULiège develops and promotes excellence in research, multidisciplinary and direct engagement with its instruction.
Global exposure is a top priority at the University of Liège. The institution offers a wide range of international mobility opportunities to students, researchers and staff, enabling them to enhance their cross-disciplinary skills and language knowledge.
ULiège: an experience of daily living. Located in 3 cities and 4 campuses, the university is a key player in terms of the environment and mobility.
The joint swearing-in ceremony for new members of the Academic Corps and the honouring of Professors Emeritus, Honorary and Retired Professors was held on Thursday 1 December 2022 at the Salle académique of the University of Liège.
R
ector Anne-Sophie Nyssen welcomed the new members of the academic body, as well as the retiring teachers, emphasizing the immutable nature of this moment at the crossroads:
"Those who leave us do not really leave: their teachings and experience remain precious to us. Those who arrive are indebted to them. Indebted for having developed teachings and research whose torch the new academics welcomed today take up, with new orientations, of course."
An important moment of the year that illustrates both permanence and renewal. Albert Einstein said that " It is the essential role of the teacher to awaken the joy of working and knowing. " A mission of transmission that shapes personalities for life and has contributed to the influence of the University of Liege for over 200 years.
